HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth volleyball concluded its penultimate home weekend with a 3-1 loss to Brown (20-25, 10-25, 25-22, 25-22, 20-25) at Leede Arena on Saturday.

Senior Carly Tower led with 11.5 points and was tied for team-lead in kills with sophomore Nicole Liddle (10). Classmate Bella Hedley was first with 21 digs, while fellow sophomore Annemarie Horn led with 19 assists.

"This was a tough weekend overall for us," head coach Gilad Doron said. "We just never got a break today. We found a little rhythm after the second game, but the starts of games haven't been good for us. We will work hard this week, make sure we are better at the beginning of sets and hopefully we will get a win or two next weekend."

Brown (11-8, 3-6) took control of the first set and had a comfortable lead until a kill by junior Tola Akinwumi, a Hedley ace and an error on the other side of the net got Dartmouth (7-13, 2-8) within three (10-7). The Bears extended their lead to eight, but the Green managed to get back within five (20-15). The visitors got to match point and freshman Taite Ryan added a kill before Brown got one more kill (25-20).

The second set was controlled by Brown and soon, it had a 12-4 advantage. The Bears kept up the momentum throughout the remainder of the set. Dartmouth made it to double digits following back-to-back Bears errors, while a Big Green error gave Brown a 2-0 edge.

Tied, 11-11 in the third, three straight aces by Hedley and two Brown errors put Dartmouth ahead, 15-11. The Bears worked their way back to within one point, but three Green points near the end of the set allowed Dartmouth to get close to victory. One more error by the Bears made it set point (24-20), but Brown put up a fight, getting within two. After breaking for a timeout, Tower delivered the last kill to send the match to a fourth set (25-22).

After falling behind, 3-0, at the start of the fourth, another Tower kill was the first of three straight Dartmouth points to get the Green back in the game (4-3). The Bears held on to their lead until a 6-2 rally, with a huge kill by Liddle at the end, put the Green up, 13-12. Brown went on a run of its own, winning the next four points, but kills by sophomores Emma Moffet and Jael Campbell once again tied the score (17-17). There were two ties before the Bears started to pull away, ending the match with a kill (25-20).

Dartmouth will be on the road next weekend for the first time since Oct. 12 to take on Princeton and Penn.
