NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Seniors
Charlie Broom and
David Horneffer opened play on day one of the ITA National Fall Championship on Wednesday, dropping matches to Texas A&M and Old Dominion.
Â
"This was a tough day for us here, but what a great opportunity to play against the best players and teams in college tennis," head coach
Xander Centenari. "I give credit to our opponents today for a high level of professionalism and competing; they showed good resolve when we were leading and were a little better than us in some key moments.
Â
"This is a great learning experience for us in many ways," Centenari continued. "We'll spend some time breaking down match film and come out prepared to compete again tomorrow with a clear game plan and another full day under our belts here in Newport Beach. We are looking forward to another opportunity tomorrow."
