HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth sophomores
Jimmy Krupka and
Claire Thomas have been selected by U.S. Ski & Snowboard to compete at the 2019 Alpine Junior World Ski Championships in Val di Fassa, Italy, on Feb. 18-27. The duo will be among over 500 skiers of ages 15-20 representing more than 50 nations.
A native of Waitsfield, Vermont, Krupka has put up solid times to start the carnival season with three top-10 finishes in the first four races. His best showing came during the opening weekend when he finished fourth in the giant slalom at St. Lawrence on Jan. 12.
Thomas, hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, has scored points for the Big Green in five of her seven races thus far, including her first career victory in the St. Lawrence giant slalom. She narrowly missed out on the podium in three other races by placing fourth, twice in the slalom.
The winners of the Junior World Ski Championships will receive a wildcard to participate in the World Cup finals this year as well. Fans that want to keep up with the races can visit the International Ski Federation (FIS) website for
