BIG WEEKEND
This weekend could make-or-break the season for Dartmouth who are looking for two wins in New York on Friday and Saturday. The Big Green first take on the Big Red at Newman Arena in Ithaca Friday at 6 p.m., they then head to the Big Apple to face the Lions Saturday at 5 p.m.
LAST WEEKEND
- Career games from Paula Lenart and Anna Luce propelled the Big Green to their first Ivy League win of the season as Dartmouth defeated Brown, 81-61, last Friday.
- With Dartmouth down by one with 7:04 left in regulation, Katie Douglas sank a three and sparked a 21-0 run for the Big Green. By the time the game was over, the Big Green outscored the Bears, 24-2, in the final seven minutes to secure the win.
- Lenart finished with 14 points and a career-high 17 rebounds, while Luce lit up the score board with a career-high 22 points on 9-12 shooting in 21 minutes off the bench.
- Isalys Quinones was in double figures with 13 points, while Cy Lippold had 12 and seven assists.
- Elle Louie had a strong performance as well with six points, 10 rebounds and a career high five assists.
- The Big Green then went to Yale and could not find the same success, falling, 64-49.
- Lippold led the team with 14 points and seven assists, while Quinones had 13 points and was 3-5 from 3-point range.
- Georgia Alexander had a breakout game with seven points and five rebounds, all coming in the first half.
SCOUTING CORNELL
- Cornell has had a similar season to the Big Green, the Big Red are currently 7-8 this season and are 1-3 in the Ivy League splitting with Columbia and dropping home contests against Penn and Princeton.
- The Big Red have played two of the same opponents as Dartmouth. Cornell lost to Binghamton, 72-61 and beat UMass Lowell, 63-64.
- Cornell relies heavily on two players who average double figures. Their leading scorer is Laura Bagwell-Katalinich who averages 15.1 ppg, which is fifth in the Ivy League, and pulls down a team high 7.1 rpg. Samantha Widmann scores 10.5 ppg and grabs 6.7 rpg.
- After that, Theresa Mbanefo and Halley Miklos both average 5.7 ppg, while Danielle Jorgenson scores 5.1 ppg.
- Cornell is last in the Ivy League with 59.1 ppg, but they give up the second fewest points at 58.4 ppg so they slow down the pace.
- One thing that the Big Red do well is defend the three-ball. They are first in the Ivy League in three-point percentage defense, holding opposing teams to .259 shooting from beyond the arch.
LAST SEASON AGAINST THE BIG RED
- Dartmouth split the series against Cornell last season winning at home and falling in the final second on the road.
- At Leede Arena, Dartmouth beat Cornell, 55-40, behind a game-high 18 points from Andi Norman.
- Kate Letkewicz was also in double figures with 11 points, while Lippold had five points and six assists and Quinones finished with six points and seven rebounds.
- For Cornell, Widmann led the way with 16 points and nine rebounds.
- In the final game of the season last year, Cornell got a layup to go in the final second of play to beat Dartmouth, 51-49.
- Letkewicz led the Big Green with 17 points, while Lippold had 12 points, five steals, three assists and two rebounds.
ALL-TIME AGAINST CORNELL
- Dartmouth has had success against Cornell, holding a 59-21 record over the Big Red dating back to 1977.
- Since 2000, the Big Green hold a 25-14 advantage over Cornell, meaning Dartmouth only lost to Cornell seven times from 1977-99.
- Dartmouth went 16-2 from 2000-08, but are 9-12 from 2009-18.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
- Columbia currently sits in last place in the Ivy League standings with a 5-12 record and are 1-3 in conference play after a split with Cornell and losses to Penn and Princeton.
- The Lions have played two of the same opponents as Dartmouth. Columbia lost to Boston College, 74-60 and fell to Cal State Fullerton, 61-58.
- The Lions have three players who average double figures. Sienna Durr leads the team with 14.2 ppg and 6.3 rpg, Riley Casey is second on the team with 11.5 ppg and Janiya Clemmons scores 10.5 ppg and pulls down 5.7 rpg.
- Casey leads the way with 14.8 ppg when playing against Ivy League opponents.
- Columbia is seventh in the conference in defense, they allow 68.5 ppg.
LAST SEASON AGAINST THE LIONS
- Dartmouth swept the season series last season, winning 88-65 at home and 88-77 on the road.
- In Hanover, Letkewicz posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
- Lippold also had a double-double with 15 points and 12 assists to go along with three steals and three rebounds, while Quinones had 15 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
- Annie McKenna had seven points in 12 minutes off the bench.
- In game two in New York, Lippold finished with 13 points, five assists and zero turnovers, while Quinones had 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals.
- Kealy Brown came away with nine points and McKenna had eight.
ALL-TIME AGAINST COLUMBIA
- Dartmouth has dominated the all-time series against Columbia, going 55-16 since 1977.
- Since 2000, the Big Green are 29-9 over the Lions.
- This year's senior class is 4-2 against Columbia and Coach Koclanes is 8-2 since arriving.
TOP-10
- Lippold dished out 13 assists last weekend to give her 250 for her career, moving her into ninth all-time in the category at Dartmouth.
- Lippold passed former Big Green great and current Princeton head coach Courtney Banghart '00.
IVY ONLY STATS
- So far in Ivy League play, Lippold leads the Big Green with 15.8 ppg and is averaging 4.5 apg.
- Quinones is averaging 10.5 ppg and 5.0 rpg in Ivy League play.
- Paula Lenart has been a beast on the boards grabbing 10.3 rpg, while scoring 6.0 ppg.
- Annie McKenna is averaging 8.7 ppg, while Anna Luce is scoring 8.0 ppg.
