ITHACA, N.Y. – Cy Lippold and
Isalys Quinones carried Dartmouth to a 63-56 victory at Cornell in Ithaca Friday night. This is the first win for the Big Green (9-9, 2-3 Ivy) at Newman Arena over the Big Red (7-9, 1-4 Ivy) since the 2009-10 season. Dartmouth shot 50% from the beyond the arch, pouring in 11 three balls.

Lippold led the way with 21 points and seven assists, going 5-10 from deep, while Quinones dropped 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds on 5-7 from three-point range.
Annie McKenna finished with seven points, six rebounds and five assists for the Big Green.

"Cy and Ice are our team leaders and they did what they're supposed to do which is take care of us offensively," said
Belle Koclanes, the Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach of Women's Basketball. "Tonight was about constant movement and being able to punch gaps and flood corners, especially against all the different zone pressures that Cornell threw at us and the team did a very good team of that today."

The team leaders got the Big Green off to a fast start. Lippold and Quinones drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to give Dartmouth an early 6-0 lead in the first two minutes. Cornell quickly got back in the game by going on an 10-2 run, taking a 10-8 advantage with 4:37 left in the first. McKenna put a stop to the Big Red run with a triple sparking an 8-0 Dartmouth run that was capped off with an and-one by Lenart to put the Big Green back on top 16-10. Cornell hit a three to cut the lead to three, but Lippold drilled her second from deep in the quarter with 28 seconds on the clock to put Dartmouth on top, 19-13, at the end of the first.

Quinones reached eight points in the opening minutes of the second after hitting a three with 7:25 on the clock to extend the Big Green lead to 24-18. The pace began to slow as defense took over for both sides in the ensuing minutes. Cornell was the team to break out of that funk as they outscored Dartmouth, 9-6, over the next six minutes to cut the Big Green lead to 30-27.
Asha Taylor sank two free throws down the stretch, but a Cornell steal and score at the halftime buzzer cut the Big Red deficit to 32-30 at halftime.

Cornell tied the game at 32 in the opening seconds of the third and took a 36-35 lead with 7:17 on the clock.
Elle Louie then made a driving layup and Quinones scored underneath. After that, the Big Red outscored Dartmouth, 9-2, to take a 45-41 advantage with 3:18 left in the quarter. Shooting from distance put the Big Green back on top as Lippold sank a three and Quinones knocked down back-to-back from deep to end the third and give Dartmouth a 50-45 lead at the end of the third.

The Big Red started the fourth on a 5-0 run and tied things at 50. Quinones hit a triple to bring her total to 19 and Lippold hit a jumper to give her 21 to give Dartmouth a 55-52 lead with 6:52 to go. The Big Green got key contributions from Louie,
Kealy Brown and
Emily Dryden down the stretch. McKenna made two free throws with 23 seconds left to put the game out of reach and give Dartmouth the win.

Dartmouth heads south to New York City for a meeting with Columbia on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Levien Gymnasium.
