PRINCETON, N.J. – No. 39 Dartmouth opened Ivy League play on Saturday, falling to Princeton by a score of 6-1 at the Lenz Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Big Green dipped to 11-6, ending a five-match winning streak, while the Tigers improved to 18-6 and 2-0 in conference action.
Â
"That was a tough match today," head coach
Chris Drake said. "They played well on their home courts, as most teams do. We need to understand how hard it is to win on the road and work through it. We'll be ready for another tough match tomorrow against Penn."
Â
A pair of 6-3 Princeton victories at the No. 2 and 1 doubles positions gave the Tigers the lead heading into singles.
Â
Sophomore
Dan Martin defeated Damian Rodriguez, 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles to tie the score, but that would be the last point Princeton allowed, as the home team won on the remaining five courts to take the match. Playing at the No. 4 position, sophomore
Peter Conklin won his second set against Davey Roberts while dropping the first and third.
Â
The Green will be back on Sunday, taking on Penn at 1 p.m.
