Taylor Ward walk to bring up Schroder who ripped a base hit up the middle to score the run and make it 1-0 after one.
Â
The top of the order did it again it the third. McFadyen and Ward hit back-to-back singles and both advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Schroder then brought home McFadyen with an RBI groundout to the right side to bring the Dartmouth advantage to 2-0.
Â
The Bulldogs, who boast the second-best batting average in the Ivy League, showed what they can do at the plate by scoring all eight of their runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Â
Yale took the lead with three runs in the third with a double and a single. The Bulldogs then plated three more in the fourth on a sacrifice bunt and a couple of RBI base hits to take a 6-2 advantage.
Â
Dartmouth made it a one-run ballgame in the fifth.
Calista Almer reached and eventually advanced to third and McFadyen walked and stole second. Ward then drove in Almer and Schroder doubled to right field to score McFadyen. The Big Green scored their fifth run of the game when
Schae Nelson laced a triple to center to score Schroder and bring the score to 6-5.
Â
Yale added some insurance in the home half of the fifth. A run scored on an RBI single and another crossed the plate on a Dartmouth error. The Big Green had the tying run at the plate in the top of the seventh, but could not bring any runs across.
