Micah Schroder and Schae Nelson each had two hits

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Playing in their final road and non-conference game of the season, the Dartmouth softball team suffered an 8-2 defeat at the hands of Boston College Wednesday afternoon at Harrington Athletics Village in Chestnut Hill. The Big Green fall to 10-27 on the season, while the Eagles improve to 18-32.

Micah Schroder drove in both runs for the Big Green and finished 2-3 at the plate with a walk. Schae Neslon had a multi-hit day as well and Calista Almer and Abby Shipley each had one hit.

Boston College sprang out to a 3-0 lead after the first two innings. The Eagles scored one run in the first on an RBI double and two more crossed the plate in the second on a sacrifice fly and a single.

Dartmouth scored both of its runs in the third inning courtesy of a two-RBI single from Schroder. McKenna Gray reached on an error and Morgan Ebow was hit by a pitch, both runners eventually advanced to second and third. Schroder then singled to right field, scoring both runners and cutting BC's lead to 3-2.

The Eagles responded and ran away with the victory. BC hit a home run in the fourth, smacked a two-RBI single in the fifth and drew a bases loaded walk in the sixth inning to extend its lead to 8-2.

Dartmouth left nine runners on base in the contest.

The Big Green close the season at home against Princeton on Saturday and Sunday. Dartmouth will celebrate senior captains Morgan Martinelli and Taylor Ward before the game on Sunday.
