Big Green in Second After First Semifinal of Women’s Championships

Dartmouth finished the day with 87 points

NEWPORT, R.I. – With the first semifinal of the Sperry Women's Championships in Newport, R.I. in the books, the Dartmouth sailing team is in second place with 87 points, The Big Green are ahead of the College of Charleston and only behind first-place Yale.

Dartmouth's Division A boat of skipper Audrey Giblin and crews Carlota Hopkins Guerra and Mary Amis had the strongest showing of the day. In eight races, the Big Green placed in the top five a total of six times with one victory.

The Big Green's Division B boat of skipper Emma White and crews Aisling Sullivan got out to a fast start, placing second and sixth in the first two races. They then came in the top five on four different occasions and also collected a first-place finish.

The racing continues on Wednesday for the final day of the semifinals in Newport, R.I.
