HANOVER, N.H. – Open and women's sailing's season continued this past weekend as the Big Green competed at three regattas: the Marchiando Team Race hosted by MIT, the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race hosted by Brown, and the Jumbo Team Race hosted by Tufts.
The three regattas were highlighted by a second-place finish at the Marchiando Team Race. The team consisting of
Bella Casaretto,
Lilly Baker,
Ryan Satterberg,
Madeline Koelbel,
Chase Decker, and
Phoebe Lee combined for a 13-2 overall record.
The Big Green competed in cold and windy conditions on Saturday as wind kept shifting, keeping sailors on their toes.
Dartmouth, who finished the regatta tied for first-place with the Harvard Crimson, officially finished in second place as one of the Big Green's two losses came against the Crimson, losing the tiebreaker.
The Big Gren were ranked 11
th nationally in open sailing coming into the weekend, impressing with a second-place overall finish.
At the Dellenbaugh Women's Team Race, the Big Green sailed to a 7-9 overall record, finishing in seventh place. Saturday's racing was cold, but sailors experienced consistent winds with a few higher gusts.
Dartmouth posted a 3-8 record through the first round of sailing, earning wins over Tufts, Roger Williams, and Charleston. In the next round, the Big Green dominated, going 4-1 overall to finish the regatta with a combined 7-9 record.
At the Jumbo Team Race hosted by Tufts on Mystic Lake, the Big Green sailed to a 7-12 overall record to finish in sixth overall.
Dartmouth went 2-5 in round one sailing, earning wins over Bentley and MIT. In round two, the Big Green went over .500, posting a 4-3 record thanks to wins over Bentley, Bowdoin, MIT and Tufts.
The Big Green followed with a win over Brown in the final round, bringing their regatta record to 7-12.
After an impressive third weekend, Dartmouth will return to action next weekend, competing in three more regattas. The weekend will be highlighted by the Fowle Trophy, the Open Team Race New England Conference Championship, hosted by Brown.
