AUSTIN, Texas – After one day and five events of the decathlon, Dartmouth senior
Ben Ose is in 17th at the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

Competing inside Texas' Mike A. Myers Stadium on Wednesday, Ose is halfway through the decathlon with 3,749 points.

Ose's best showing of the first day at nationals came in the final event as he finished 11th in the 400m in 49.50. He was 12th in the second event of the day, posting a measured leap of 7.0m in the long jump.

The native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, was 16th in the 100m (11.12), 19th in the high jump (1.86m) and 23rd in the shot put (11.63m), respectively.

Ose – the 2019 Ivy League Champion in the decathlon — still has the 100m hurdles, the discus, pole vault and javelin as well as the 1500m remaining on Thursday to earn more points and move up the standings in the final day of competition.

Johannes Erm (4,345) of Georgia and Stanford's Harrison Williams (4,266) are the two individuals atop the leaderboard after five events.
