PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Dartmouth women's tennis opened the fall season against Rhode Island, UMass and Brown on day one of the Brown Invitational in Providence, Rhode Island.
In doubles,
Catherine Cable and
Nicole Conard played against Erin Chratian and Paulina Loredo from URI and came away with a 6-2 victory.
Allison McCann and
Nina Paripovic faced Jodie Lawrence-Taylor and Anna Napadiy of UMass and fell 6-4. The final doubles match was between
Chuyang Guan and
Jingyi Peng and Brown's Julia Newman and Ryan Peus. Brown's pair came away with a 6-4 win.
Dartmouth won both matches against URI in singles. Conrad defeated Chratian, 6-0 and 6-4, while Cable won her matches by two scores of 6-3 over Loredo.
Guan and Peng both won their singles matches against Brown. Guan defeated Peus, 6-0 and 6-2, while Peng won against Newman, 7-6(6) and 6-4.
Against UMass, McCan first fell 6-0 to Napadiy, but put up a hard fought second game, falling 7-5. Paripovic took Lawrence-Taylor to three games, but eventually came up short, 6-4, 2-6, 10-2.
Dartmouth will play in day two of the Brown invitational on Saturday..
