Seven different players scored for the Big Green
HANOVER, N.H. – Seven different goal scorers found the back of the net in Dartmouth's 7-1 victory over Niagara Saturday night at Burnham Field.
Scoring for the Big Green were Henry Baldwin (3'), Kota Sakurai (6'), Mothibi Penn-Kekana (25'), Dawson McCartney (44'), Aron Rudich (64'), Pedro Campos (84') and Aaron Schwartz (90'). McCartney, David Alino and Eric Sachleben each finished with two assists.
It was the first goal of their careers for Penn-Kekana, Rudich, Campos and Schwartz.
The Big Green (3-2-0) outshot the Purple Eagles (1-6-0) 20-9 and 10-3 on goal with a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. Dartmouth scored its most goals in a game since September of 2009.
The party started early as the Big Green made their first corner kick count. In the third minute, McCartney sent the ball in front of the goal and Baldwin headed it in to jumpstart the Dartmouth offense.
Moments later in the sixth minute, Zach Kalk and Alino passed it back-and-forth in front of the Niagara defense and found Sakurai who launched it in to make the score, 2-0.
Penn-Kekana scored on another corner kick in the 25th minute and Alino found McCartney just before the half in the 44th minute to give Dartmouth a commanding, 4-0, lead at the break.
Aron Rudich kept things rolling with a 64th minute goal off assists from Sachleben and Jesse Scanlon.
Niagara scored its only goal of the game game in the 76th minute to make the score 5-1.
Dartmouth finished the final 10 minutes with a free kick goal by Campos in the 84th minute and Schwartz beat the 90-minute horn to cap off the huge win for the Big Green.
Dartmouth heads back on the road for a Tuesday night meeting with Albany at 7 p.m.
