CRAFTSBURY, Vt./WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. — Junior Katharine Odgen earned her first victory of the season by nearly 20 seconds, crossing the tape in the women's 15K classical in 46:31.0 as the Dartmouth ski team wrapped up the inaugural Harvard Carnival in third place with 839 points. Vermont outlasted Middlebury for the title, 867-863, despite the Panthers winning two of the four events today.
The Big Green also got podium finishes from three other skiers as both
Drew Duffy and
Ellie Curtis placed second in their respective giant slalom races, while freshman
Mara McCollor claimed third in the women's 15K behind Ogden.
Ogden essentially led from the start, building up a 10-second buffer ahead of McCollor and Middlebury's Alexandra Lawson after the first 5K loop at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center before extending it to 20 seconds the next time around. The three-time NCAA champion cruised around the course during the final loop, maintaining her advantage for her 12th career collegiate victory and 20th individual podium with a time of 46:31.0. Lauren Jortberg placed eighth in 47:38.1, just ahead of sophomore
Rena Schwartz (47:40.9) to wrap up the Big Green scoring with 127 points, just edging out Middlebury (125) to claim the event.

Sophomore
Andrew Miller posted the third-best time on the second tour down the slopes to finish up in sixth (2:08.60), just ahead of senior teammate
David Domonoske in seventh (2:08.79). The trio amassed 119 points, edging out both UNH (111) and Middlebury (109).
The women also totaled 119 points in the giant slalom, matching the men's finishes in the 2-6-7 slots. But Vermont took two of the three podium steps to beat out the Big Green for the team title with 125 points. Curtis began the day with the fifth-best time of 1:09.11, then boosted herself into second with an even better run to finish with a combined time of 2:12.55, a mere 0.12 seconds behind the winner, Vermont's Maria Vilanova, and only 0.08 seconds ahead of Vilanova's teammate, Josefine Selvaag. Junior
Tricia Mangan (2:13.17) improved from ninth to sixth with her second run, edging out junior
Claire Thomas in seventh (2:13.37). The other three women competing for the Big Green all finished in the top 20.
