HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth women's tennis narrowly fell to Boston College, 4-3, in its first match of 2020 at the Boss Tennis Center on Saturday.
"This was a very well-played match," head coach
Bob Dallis said. "It all came down to the last match. We showed great resiliency and competitive spirit."
The Big Green won the first point of the afternoon.
Racquel Lyn and
Allison McCann started things off with a 6-1 win at the No. 3 position and that was followed by a 6-4 win by
Nicole Conard and
Abigail Chiu at the top spot.
A 6-4, 6-1 victory by Conard over Yufei Long at the No. 1 singles position gave Dartmouth a 2-0 lead, but Eagles wins at No. 2, 5 and 6 gave the visitors a 3-2 lead.
Catherine Cable's 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 defeat of Dasha Possokhova at the No. 4 spot tied things up, while a three-set win for BC at the No. 3 position ended the match in the Eagles' favor.
The Green will be at home for two matches next weekend. They will host Binghamton on Friday and Brown on Sunday.
