HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth juniors
Drew Duffy and
Katharine Ogden were named two of the EISA Skiers of the Week for their performances at the Harvard Carnival this past weekend. Both earned a pair of podiums in the alpine and Nordic events, respectively.
Duffy, a native of Warren, Vermont, was consistently stellar on all of his runs to earn the EISA Male Alpine Skier of the Week honor. On Friday, he had the fastest first trip down the slopes in the slalom at Waterville Valley, then put together another top-10 run to claim third in the event in 1:34.09. The following day, Duffy was sitting fourth in the giant slalom after the first run, then climbed two spots to take second with his time of 2:07.53. The 2019 EISA Male Alpine Rookie of the Year and All-American now has an even 10 podiums in his collegiate career.
Ogden, hailing from Landgrove, Vermont, continued to demonstrate the form that has made her a three-time NCAA champion to be named the EISA Female Nordic Skier of the Week. In the 5K freestyle, she ran neck-and-neck with a Middlebury skier and crossed the tape just 1.3 seconds behind to finish in second place in 13:44.1. On Saturday, Ogden made sure she took home the gold in the 15K classical, opening up 10-second lead through the first 5K loop before stretching it to 20 seconds by the completion of the second tour. Her final time of 46:31.0 put her well ahead of the field for her 12th collegiate victory and 20th individual podium.
Dartmouth will be back in action Friday morning at the Vermont Carnival.
