HONOLULU, Hawaii — Dartmouth defensive end Niko Lalos was chosen as the MVP for Team Aina at the 2020 Hula Bowl All-Star Game on Sunday night, but Team Kai won the game in a 23-7 battle at Aloha Stadium.
An All-Ivy League First Team selection on the defensive line this past fall, Lalos dazzled in the all-star game, recording six tackles, three for a loss with two sacks and a forced fumble.
The game — which had not been played since 2008 — featured players from all levels of football, from Division III through the FBS, including three players from the national champion LSU Tigers. Kansas State defensive end Reggie Walker was the MVP for Team Kai.
Lalos was part of a Dartmouth defense that held the opposition to 12.4 points per game in 2019, the second lowest total in the FCS, as the 21st-ranked Big Green won a share of its 19th Ivy League title — an Ancient Eight record — with a 6-1 mark in conference play and 9-1 overall record.
