Dartmouth finished the Charleston Classic with a 3-2 record

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sunday morning's game had everything a fan could ask for. The sophomore duo of Brooke Plonka and Madie Augusto combined for a no-hitter and Loghan Thomas smacked a walk-off double to lift Dartmouth (3-2) to a 2-1 victory over North Carolina A&T (2-10) in eight innings to close the Charleston Classic on a high note.

Plonka got the starting nod and continued her torrid start in the circle. She struck out five batters over 3.2 innings and walked a pair, Plonka is already up to 25 K's, which surpasses her total of 21 from last season. Augusto finished the job, sitting down four in the final 4.2 innings with one unearned run in the fifth.

Thomas went 1-for-3 with the walk-off RBI, while Billie McFadyen, who scored the winning run, was 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk. Calista Almer tripled and scored a run for the Big Green.

After Plonka fanned the side in the top of the first, Dartmouth went up 1-0 in the bottom of the inning. Almer started the frame with a triple to right and scored on an error off the bat of Schae Nelson.

The Aggies' lone run came in the fifth when Eternal Fuller reached on an error, a sacrifice bunt advanced her to second, and a sac-fly scored her to make it a 1-1 ball game.

With two outs in the bottom of the eighth and nobody on base, McFadyen singled to left. Thomas then stepped up and laced a double over the head of the center fielder, McFadyen used her speed and rounded the bags to beat the tag at the plate to ignite the celebration.

The Big Green will now prepare for a five-game slate at The Spring Games in Lakeland, Florida. Dartmouth starts on Friday with Florida International at 3:30 and Albany at 6:00 p.m.
