Annie McKenna, Paula Lenart, Kealy Brown and Grace Phillips were honored
HANOVER, N.H. – Annie McKenna led Dartmouth with 15 points, seven rebounds and four assists as Dartmouth came up short on Senior Day to Columbia, 62-50, Saturday night at Leede Arena.
The 2020 class of McKenna, Paula Lenart, Kealy Brown and Grace Phillips were honored pregame for their accomplishments on and off the court.
Asha Taylor finished with nine points off the bench, while Anna Luce and Katie Douglas each had six and Brown and Allie Harland both had five points.
Columbia's Abby Hsu posted a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double, while Hannah Pratt also had a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards off the bench.
"The fourth quarter was great, we needed that to start the game," said Belle Koclanes, the Gail Koziara Boudreaux '82 and Family Head Coach of Women's Basketball. "This team has fight, but we need consistent fight, and that's been the message all season. We have it in us, and we have shown it in spurts, but we need to continue to grow and develop."
Columbia jumped ahead to a 17-2 lead after the first eight minutes of action. Taylor made a basket and Harland sunk a triple with 31 seconds on the clock to make it a 10-point game at the end of one.
Hsu and Brown traded triples to open the second. Columbia then scored the next six points before Taylor connected on a long ball to bring the score to 26-13 with 5:38 until the half. It was competitive, as Columbia outscored Dartmouth 11-9, to finish the first 20 minutes with the Lions on top, 37-22.
Dartmouth began the third on an 8-4 spurt to close the gap to 41-30 with 3:42 on the clock. Columbia pulled away by scoring the final 10 points of the quarter to build its lead to 51-30.
The Big Green won the fourth, 20-11, but the run came too late as Columbia maintained a 12-point advantage at the final buzzer. McKenna had eight of her 15 points in the final quarter.
Dartmouth begins its final road trip of the season with Yale on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
