HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth junior
Claire Thomas was named the EISA Women's Alpine Skier of the Week for her performances at the Colby Carnival this past weekend. She earned 87 points for the Big Green over the weekend, helping the team finish second in the standings for the first time this year.
Thomas, hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah, picked up her second career carnival victory in the giant slalom on Friday. After sitting third following the first run at Sugarloaf, she posted the fastest time on her next run to win the gold in 2:02.38. The following day, Thomas put together two solid runs to claim sixth in the slalom with a time of 1:50.90, helping Dartmouth win that event as she did in the giant slalom the previous day.
With her gold in the giant slalom, Thomas has three career podium finishes to her credit to go with six fourth-place showings. The two-time All-East Second Team skier has put herself in good position to qualify for her first NCAA Championship next month.
Dartmouth will be back in action Friday morning at the Bates Carnival.
