Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Katie Bourque, Sr., Ridgewood, N.J., A/M, Women's Lacrosse
Katie Bourque had another stellar week for the women's lacrosse team, posting 10 goals and 12 points as the team went 2-0. In a stunning 13-9 win over No. 5 Florida, Bourque scored four times and had five points as the Big Green defeated the Gators for the first time ever. She followed that up with a career-high six goals and seven points in the 18-5 win against New Hampshire on Saturday and was then rewarded with her second Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season on Monday.
Tanner Palocsik, Fr., Aliquippa, Pa., D, Men's Hockey
Tanner Palocsik capped his first season as a member of the men's hockey team off in style, scoring two goals in the final seven minutes of regulation to force overtime in Game 2 of the postseasons series against Princeton. The first multi-goal game of his career saw the rookie blueliner score a power-play marker with 7:03 left in regulation to make it a one-score game, only to tie the game with 2.3 seconds left on another point shot that capped a three-goal comeback and force overtime. At the time of Dartmouth's season ending, Palocsik is the nation's leading scorer amongst rookie defensemen with 24 points (5-19-24), the most by a Big Green blueliner in 16 seasons.Â
