The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team held its annual banquet this past weekend via a Zoom call with players, family and staff members, handing out awards and celebrating the team accomplishments of the shortened 2020 season.
Â
First-year head coach
Alex Frank along with her coaching staff handed out awards to four members of the senior class for their contributions not only this spring, but also over the course of their four years in Hanover.
Â
The Josie Harper Award: Kiera Vrindten '20
Given to the player who has shown love for the game, genuine respect and care for her teammates, and pride in Dartmouth lacrosse and hard work.
Â
The Blaine Steinberg '15 Award: Sarah Ross '20
Voted on by the members of that season's team, this award is presented annually to the Big Green women's lacrosse player who displays relentless positivity and empathy towards her teammates. The accolade is named for Blaine Steinberg '15, a member of the women's lacrosse team for two seasons who tragically passed away on March 7, 2014, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to friends and family, her love of sports, an infectious laugh and relentless positivity.
Â
Patty Pierce Award: Katie Bourque '20
The honor is presented annually to the player who has made outstanding contributions to the Dartmouth women's lacrosse program, along with being an exemplary role model both on and off the field over the course of four years.
Â
The Don '35 and Margaret Radasch Award: Sophia Turchetta '20
Presented to the player who exemplifies extraordinary dedication, true coachability and an unselfish attitude throughout the season.
Â
Additionally, the players were able to speak and recognize members of other classes and what they have brought to the team during their time together in Hanover.
Â
Staff members, including assistant coaches
Tee Ladouceur,
Kelsie Garrison and
Layne Woodruff were all recognized for their contributions to the program in their first season as part of Frank's staff. Athletic trainer
Amanda Leitch as well as several other support staff members were also highlighted on the call for their work with the Big Green.
Â
Dartmouth was 5-0 overall and 1-0 in Ivy League play at the time the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one of just eight teams in the nation to boast an unblemished record at the time of the stoppage.
