THIS WEEKEND
Having been on the road for the first two weeks of October, the Dartmouth volleyball team will be back at Leede Arena this Friday and Saturday to host Columbia and Cornell. The Lions and the Big Red are the last of the seven Ivy League opponents the Big Green have yet to have faced in the past two years.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth had an 0-2 road weekend, being swept by Brown (17-25, 17-25, 14-25) on Friday before getting one set from Yale the following day (15-25, 25-22, 20-25, 22-25).
·    Â
Piper Stevens led the team in total kills (16) and points (16),
Karen Murphy was first with 30 assists,
Emma Engstrom led with 40 digs and
Francesca Meldrum had a team-leading six total blocks.
·     Against the Bulldogs,
Makenzie Arent had yet another double-double (19A, 12D). She has had one in exactly half of the Big Green's matches in 2021.
Â
SCOUTING THE LIONS
Columbia has won just four matches so far this season, but it does have an Ivy win under its belt from beating travel partner Cornell in the first conference match of the year. Since then, the Lions have lost four straight to Yale, Brown, Penn and Princeton.Â
Â
LAST TIME AGAINST COLUMBIA
The Big Green and the Lions went 1-1 in 2019. Columbia won the first meeting in October, 3-1, while Dartmouth had a five-set victory to open the final home weekend of the season. The series is a close one, as the Big Green have just one game on the Lions.
Â
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell has struggled a bit during conference play, picking up its first win against Penn last Saturday. Before that, the Big Red had been riding a five-match losing streak dating back to mid-September.
Â
LAST TIME AGAINST CORNELL
The Green and the Red split in 2019: Cornell took all three sets at its home gym, but Dartmouth managed to squeak out a 3-1 victory on Senior Day.
