Two-Goal Second Quarter from Columbia Sinks Dartmouth

The Big Green took a 1-0 lead in the first quarter before conceding two in the second.
HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth field hockey team fell to Columbia, 2-1, in Ivy League action on Saturday afternoon at Chase Field.

Dartmouth (4-9, 0-5) took a 1-0 lead late in the first quarter after freshman Emilia Callahan scored her second goal of the season. Junior Meg Barnes took a shot on goal and Callahan pounced on the rebound to give the Big Green the lead.

The Lions (7-6, 1-4) tied things up inside the first 30 seconds of the second quarter. With just under a minute to go in the first half, Columbia took the lead after Sophie Rockefeller scored a penalty stroke. Rockefeller smashed the ball into the bottom left corner.

Junior Hatley Post recorded eight saves in goal for the Big Green.

The Big Green return to action on Sunday at Chase Field as they take on the Maine Black Bears. This will be the final home game for the Class of 2022, please be sure to stick around after the game to honor them!
