THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team hits the road for their first road trip of the season. The Big Green take on St. Lawrence on Friday evening followed by a Saturday tilt with Clarkson. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.
LOOKING BACK AT LAST WEEKEND
- Dartmouth hosted two ECAC Hockey contests last weekend at Thompson Arena.
- The Big Green defeated Colgate, 3-2, in Friday's contest.
- Junior Mark Gallant, senior Harrison Markell, and Freshman Sean Chisholm scored the goals. Gallant and Markell's goals were power play goals while Chisholm's goal was the first of his career. Sophomore Clay Stevenson had another strong showing with 29 saves and his first career.
- This was also the first career win for the Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Hockey Reid Cashman.
- Dartmouth hosted #15 Cornell on Saturday evening, with the Big Red taking the game by a score of 5-4 after one of the wildest finishes we will ever see in college hockey.
- The Big Green put in a tremendous effort, coming back from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game late in the third period.
- Senior Jeff Losurdo scored two goals and had one assist, while freshman Matt Hubbarde and Gallant tallied the other goals. Junior Tanner Palocsik had a three-point game as well with three assists.
THE BIG GREEN STATS
- Three players are tied with a team leading two goals this season: Losurdo, Gallant, and sophomore Joey Musa.
- Losurdo and Palocsik are tied for the team lead in points with five. Losurdo has two goals and three assists while Palocsik has one goal with four assists.
- Stevenson has played roughly 158 minutes in net this season, he boasts a 1-1 record with 85 saves and a .934 save percentage while only allowing six goals.
RECENT HISTORY AGAINST THE SAINTS
- Dartmouth swept the season series against St. Lawrence in the 2019-20 season.
- The Big Green defeated the Saints, 3-1, at Thompson Arena on Jan. 18, and then picked up a 5-2 win at Appleton Arena on Feb. 21.
- Junior Tanner Palocsik posted a multi-point effort in the 5-2 win with one goal and one assist.
RECENT HISTORY AGAINST THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
- The Big Green split the season series against Clarkson during the 2019-20 season.
- Dartmouth defeated #7 Clarkson, 3-2, on Jan. 17 for their second win against a top-10 team that season.
- The Golden Knights took the return matchup by a score of 4-0.
- The winning goal for the Big Green in the Jan. 17 game came from junior Tyler Campbell with seniors Erik Urbank and Sam Hesler picking up the assists.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE
- St. Lawrence heads into Friday's contest with a 2-2-3 overall record and a 1-0-1 ECAC Hockey record.
- The Saints opened their ECAC slate with a 4-3 win over RPI on Friday evening and played to a 2-2 tie with Union on Saturday. St. Lawrence won the shootout on Saturday to pick up the extra point in the standings.
- Chris Pappas and Aleksi Peltonen are tied for the team lead in goals with two each. Justin Paul leads the team in points with five as he has one goal and four assists this season.
- Emil Zetterquist has started six games in net this season, posting a .938 save percentage with 167 saves while allowing 11 goals.
SCOUTING CLARKSON
- The Golden Knights enter this weekend at 4-4-1-0 overall with a 0-2-0-0 ECAC Hockey record. They will face Harvard on Friday evening.
- Zach Tsekos leads Clarkson in scoring with five goals this season. Lukas Kaelble and Luke Santerno each have three goals.
- Kaelble leads the team with nine points while Tsekos has seven points.
- Ethan Haider has started all nine games in net for the Golden Knights, recording 191 saves for a .905 save percentage while allowing 20 goals.
