PROVIDENCE, R.I — Dartmouth closed out their 2021 season with a win, Saturday night at Brown with a 1-0 win. Junior midfielder
Eric Sachleben scored the lone goal in the 46th minute and senior goalkeeper
Alex Budnik made five saves in a shutout effort.
The Big Green came out on the offensive to start the game. They outshot Brown (6-10-1, 2-4-1 Ivy) 10-3 in the first 45 minutes and placed four of those 10 shots on goal. They also out earned the Bears in corner kicks 2-0. Despite the pressure they applied, the score was tied 0-0 at halftime.
Dartmouth (3-11-1, 1-5
-1 Ivy) saw their pressure pay off within the first minute of the second half. Sachleben put the ball in the Brown goal and was assisted by freshman midfielder
Finn Callahan. Budnik stood tall in net for the next 44 minutes to secure the Big Green win. Brown outshot Dartmouth 16-4 in the second half and Budnik made four saves. The team's efforts resulted in a 1-0 win.
It was the final game of the season for the Big Green. They will return next fall and look to make another run at an Ivy League title.
