“Big Green Classic” Features Women’s Hockey Tilt with Rensselaer

HANOVER, N.H. — "Big Green Classic" — a series of Dartmouth events from the past two years that are being streamed once again on ESPN+ — returns tonight with the women's hockey game against Rensselaer that was originally played at the start of the 2020 calendar year on Jan. 3. The broadcast will be available on the Worldwide Leader in Sports' platform this evening at 7 p.m.

Entering the game with a 4-7-2 mark, Dartmouth was looking to start the new year off in the win column after ending the previous year with a 2-1 triumph over Franklin Pierce. But with three weeks off between the games, the question was if the Big Green could quickly shake off the rust and build upon that win. Dartmouth also wanted to avenge a season sweep at the hands of the Engineers in 2018-19. Gabby Billing (three goals, 8 assists) led the Big Green with 11 points on the season with C.C. Bowlby sporting the most goals with five to go with five helpers as well. Goalie Hannah Humphreys entered the night with a save percentage of .898 and a 2.71 goals against average.

RPI, meanwhile, was suffering through a miserable season and was still searching for its first win and had scored more than one goal just twice, though its season-high of four tallies came against fifth-ranked Clarkson in a tough 5-4 defeat. Forward Blake Orosz ended up as the Engineers' leader with four goals by the end of the season with forward Sabrina Repaci posting a team-best eight points (2-6).

This is the 12th of 13 games that will be streamed on the ESPN+ platform this winter. Each of the events are available for viewing for 30 days after it airs with a subscription to the service. The complete schedule of events is listed below.
