Dartmouth Wins Nine Matches on First Day of Home Invite

The Big Green men's tennis team played matches against BC, Monmouth and Bryant on the first of three days

HANOVER, N.H. – The men's tennis team opened its fall season on day one of three of the Dartmouth Invitational on Friday. The Big Green won six singles and three doubles matches throughout the day.

Dartmouth was victorious in all but one of its four singles matches against Boston College. Anders Gibbons had a 6-0, 6-2 win over Connor McDonald, while Sid Chari defeated Bennett Turner (6-1, 6-3) and Alejandro Quiles took down Max Motlagh (6-4, 6-2). In doubles, Gibbons and Chari paired up to easily defeat McDonald and Turner, 6-1.

It was a similar story against Monmouth; Carlos Guerrero Alvarez and Andy Ilie both took down their opponents in two, while Daniel Webb had to go to three sets, but ultimately walked away with the win. Ilie and Alex Knox-Jones' doubles match against the Hawks was mighty close, but the Big Green duo managed to hold on, 7-6(7).

Though they dropped their singles matches, Logan Chang and Sacha Pritzker rebounded to defeat the doubles team from Bryant, 6-2.

The Big Green will be back for day two on Saturday.
