THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth women's basketball team will remain on the road this weekend for conference games against Princeton and Yale.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green played their first Ivy League road game since March of 2020 on Monday, falling to Harvard at Lavietes Pavilion, 96-62.
·
Rosie Jennings went 5-7 (.714) from the floor and was perfect at the line, adding a trey, five rebounds and one assist for a career-high 13 points.
·
Mekkena Boyd chipped in 12 points and three assists.
· The home team came out hot, holding a 15-2 lead after the first five minutes. Dartmouth's defense picked up the second five, allowing just six points while picking up six of its own, capped by
Carrington Washburn's layup and free throw.
· The teams were evenly matched in the second and the Big Green had an 11-9 advantage over the first six minutes, with five of those points coming from
Emma Koch. The later parts of the quarter were highlighted by treys from Boyd and
Allie Harland to make it a 53-28 game at the half.
· Jennings and
Mia Curtis hit 3-pointers during the third when Dartmouth needed it most, but Harvard continued to pull away. Washburn had a pair of shots from the charity stripe and Koch added a layup before the end (72-43).
· For the fourth quarter in a row, Jennings opened scoring for the Big Green.
Katie Douglas and Harland knocked down treys 980 seconds apart before Jennings hit a pair of foul shots. Harvard ended the game with a slight 11-9 edge.
· The Green finished the game shooting 36.7% from the floor and won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Harvard by six and collecting a season-high 18 offensive boards.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton heads into Saturday's game with an overall record of 12-4 and a 4-0 mark in Ivy League play. The Tigers are tied with Columbia for first in the league, though the Lions are two games behind.
They are first in the conference in scoring defense, scoring margin, free throw percentage, offensive rebounds and rebounding defense.
Individually, they are first in three categories: Abby Meyers in scoring and free throw percentage and Ellie Mitchell in offensive rebounds.
ALL-TIME VERSUS PRINCETON
In 85 games dating back to 1977, Dartmouth narrowly leads the all-time series with a 44-41 mark. The Big Green dominated the Tigers in the first 62 games, going 43-19. Since 2010, Princeton has completely flipped the switch and are 20-1 over Dartmouth, the one win coming in the final game of the 2016-17 season, where the Big Green won, 58-56.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
With its overall record of 10-6 and its 3-1 mark in Ivy play, Yale is tied with Penn for third with just one loss apiece. That loss for the Bulldogs came against Columbia in the first conference game of the year.
Camilla Emsbo is looking pretty good this season, sitting atop the standings in rebounding, field goal percentage, blocked shots and defensive rebounds.
ALL-TIME VERSUS YALE
In a series that goes back to 1974, it is the Green, once again, that leads with a 54-33 record. The Bulldogs hold a slight 22-21 record since 2000, and a bigger 19-4 mark since 2010.
LEADING THE WAY
The underclassmen have been stepping up so far, as demonstrated by the fact that the top four scorers are all in their first seasons of competition. Curtis is the first player to reach 100 points, leading the way with 102. She is followed by Washburn (96), Boyd (93) and Jennings (80).
Doreen Ariik is the leading rebounder with 63.
