HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to Union, 3-2, in ECAC Hockey action on Wednesday evening at Thompson Arena.
Dartmouth falls to 3-12-2, 2-8-1 while Union improves to 8-12-3, 6-7-1.
Senior
Jeff Losurdo scored his fourth goal of the season, putting him tied for second on the team. It was Losurdo's second goal in the last three games. Junior
Tanner Palocsik scored his second on the season.
The Dutchmen took the lead late in the first period. Junior
Sean Keohan was sent to the penalty box for holding. Union capitalized with just seven seconds remaining on the power play to take the 1-0 lead.
It was a back-and-forth game throughout the second period. With under four minutes remaining, senior
Sam Hesler fired a shot towards goal. The rebound was bouncing around in front of goal until Losurdo pounced on the loose puck to put it home and tie the game at 1-1.
Union took the lead back with two goals a minute apart during the third period. Dylan Anhorn and Owen Farris grabbed the goals for the Dutchmen to take a 3-1 lead with just over 15 minutes remaining in the third.
Dartmouth cut into the deficit midway through the third when Palocsik jumped on a loose puck in front of goal after sophomore
Nick Unruh's initial shot was saved by Union goaltender Connor Murphy. The goal was wide open and Palocsik took advantage of a great opportunity.
The Big Green pulled senior goaltender
Justin Ferguson with just under two minutes remaining but were unable to find the equalizer.
Dartmouth heads off to New York with ECAC Hockey matchups with Cornell and Colgate this weekend. Those games will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
