HANOVER, N.H. — It should come as little surprise that Dartmouth freshman
Jasmine Drolet was named the Eastern Intercollegiate Skiing Association (EISA) Women's Nordic Skier of the Week following her spectacular collegiate debut at the St. Michael's Carnival this past weekend.
Drolet, a native of Rossland, British Columbia, did not merely win both women's cross country races, but did so in convincing fashion. In the 10K freestyle on Friday, she quickly took control at the front of the pack and reached the midway checkpoint with nearly a 12 second lead. The separation continued to grow through the second half of the race and she crossed the tape in 27:08.3, a good 26 seconds ahead of the field.
The following day, Drolet proved her performance was no fluke as she once again cruised to victory, this time in the 5K classic. The rookie bested the field by more than 15 seconds to claim her second gold in as many days.
Dartmouth, which has finished second in each of the first two carnivals this season, returns to action on Friday, Feb. 4, for the first day of the Vermont Carnival at Stowe and Craftsbury.
