Dartmouth (1-17, 0-6) vs. Columbia (15-3, 6-0)
The Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first 80 second of the game, but a 6-2 Big Green run during a 90-second span made it a two-point game. Columbia added another eight points while keeping Dartmouth scoreless for almost four minutes, but Washburn's foul shot ended the run with two minutes remaining in the quarter. A trey from
Mia Curtis with 14 seconds left ended the quarter (20-10).
The Green came out fighting in the second, going on a 10-2 run in the first three minutes, highlighted by 3-pointers from Washburn and Curtis. The visitors turned things around, picking up nine of the next 13 points to create some distance. Shots from
Victoria Page and
Rosie Jennings late in the quarter made it a six-point game at the half (32-26) after Dartmouth outscored Columbia, 16-12.
Coming back from the break, the Lions ran away with the game, scoring nine points while allowing just two from the Green over the first two minutes of the third. An
Emma Koch 3-pointer and a layup from Boyd broke into the run, but five Columbia treys throughout the quarter gave the visitors a bigger lead (59-36).
Dartmouth started the fourth quarter with a 5-0 boost thanks to a jumper by
Jimena Abejon and Koch's second trey of the afternoon. It took until the six-minute mark before Columbia could get on the board and, by the halfway point, the Big Green had a 7-3 advantage. Scoring was low over the last few minutes; Boyd added two more points and Washburn had one more foul shot before the game was done (65-46), but the Big Green again won the quarter, 10-6.
The Big Green will host the UMass Minutewomen on Tuesday at 7 p.m., a game rescheduled from Dec. 28.
