TROY, N.Y. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to Rensselaer (RPI), 2-1, in ECAC Hockey action on Saturday evening at the Houston Field House.

Dartmouth moves to 1-4-1, 1-3-1 while RPI improves to 6-5-0, 2-4-0.

Luke Haymes scored the lone goal for the Big Green.
Tucker McRae registered his first career point after picking up the primary assist on Haymes' goal.
Tyler Campbell had the other assist.
Cooper Black finished with 25 saves.

Ryan Mahshie and John Beaton each scored for the Engineers. Kyle Hallbauer assisted on both goals.

Rensselaer had the edge in shots on goal, 6-5, at the end of the first period. The Big Green had the best chance of the opening frame.
John Fusco played the outlet ahead to Campbell, who was through on goal but his shot from close range was saved by Watson. Immediately after, the Engineers had five shots within a 23 second span, three of which were saved by Black and the other two were blocked by
Cooper Flinton and
Jack Cameron.

RPI nearly took the lead early in the second period. The Engineers had two quick shots just a few feet from goal, but Black denied both.

The Big Green took the lead midway through the second period when Haymes scored his team-high fifth goal of the season. Campbell played the puck back to McRae at the point. McRae fired it towards goal and the deflection fell behind Watson, right to Haymes for the tap-in.

The Engineers tied it up later in the period. After winning the draw in the Dartmouth defensive zone, Hallbauer ripped a shot that was saved by Black, but the rebound fell in front to Mahshie and he put it in the back of the net to make it 1-1.

The Big Green had a 5v3 opportunity late in the third period after RPI was called for two minor penalties in quick succession. Dartmouth had several chances but were turned away by Watson and the RPI defense.

RPI scored in the final 30 seconds to take the win. Hallbauer took a shot from the point that was saved by Black. Beaton poked his stick on the puck on the rebound in front of goal and into the back of the net.

Dartmouth will next head overseas to Belfast, Northern Ireland for the Friendship Four on Friday, November 25 and Saturday, November 26. The Big Green square off with fellow ECAC Hockey member Quinnipiac in the first game. They will take on either UMass Amherst or UMass Lowell the following day.
