HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth women's hockey team hits the road for a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups this weekend in New York. The Big Green first take on the RPI Engineers on Friday, November 4 at 6 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Union Dutchwomen Saturday, November 5 at 3 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green opened Thompson Arena for the 2022-23 season last weekend with games against ECAC Hockey/Ivy League foes. Dartmouth dropped a close 2-1 decision to the Brown Bears on Friday before falling to then-No. 9 Yale the following afternoon, 4-1.
CC Bowlby registered the first goal of the Big Green's season against Brown, while
Jenna Donohue opened the scoring against Yale. Bowlby's goal against the Bears was featured on SportsCenter Top 10 as the No. 6 entry on Saturday, October 29.
Sophomore goaltender
Maggie Emerson was stellar in Dartmouth's 4-1 defeat to the Bulldogs, making 36 saves on 39 shots. Her strong play kept the Big Green in the contest until an empty-net goal sealed the win for the visitors.
LOOKING FOR A SPARK
Dartmouth is looking for a spark of offense as the team searches for its first win of the 2022-23 campaign.
The Big Green have outshot their opponents in two of the first three contests of the season but have only found the back of the net twice.
CC Bowlby and
Jenna Donohue have each scored for their squad through the first three games. They have also both recorded assists.
SCOUTING RPI
RPI welcomes Dartmouth to the Houston Field House with a record of 2-8-0. The Engineers opened ECAC Hockey action last weekend, dropping contests to St. Lawrence and Clarkson on the road.
The Engineers were outscored by their conference foes 9-1 last weekend. RPI first dropped a 3-0 decision to St. Lawrence on Friday, October 28 before falling to Clarkson the following day by a score of 6-1.
RPI snapped a season-opening six-game skid at home on October 21 and 22, sweeping a non-conference series against RIT. The Engineers posted a pair of shutouts, led by Amanda Rampado, who stopped all 42 shots she faced over the weekend.
Ellie Kaiser and Marah Wagner lead the Engineers offensively with three points each. RPI has been outscored by its opponents, 29-9 through 10 contests. Rampado has played every minute in net for RPI thus far, with a save percentage of .909.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE ENGINEERS
The Big Green hold a 20-9-4 lead on RPI in the all-time series between the programs.
Last season, Dartmouth and RPI split the season series. The Engineers took the first matchup on December 2, 2021 in Hanover by a score of 3-1. The Big Green responded with a 3-1 win of their own in Troy, New York on February 19, 2022.
Annie King,
Kenzie Bachelor and
Tiffany Hill each found the back of the net in Dartmouth's win over the Engineers last season.
The Big Green have gone 5-3-2 against RPI in the last 10 matchups.
SCOUTING UNION
Union has opened its season with a record of 3-5-0 and plays at home for the first time this season this weekend.
The Dutchwomen started the year with eight games on the road, including two ECAC Hockey matchups last weekend against Clarkson and St. Lawrence.
Union dropped both contests and were shutout in both games. The Dutchwomen first lost to then-No. 10 Clarkson, 4-0 and were edged out by St. Lawrence, 1-0.
Emily King leads the Dutchwomen with four goals and seven points. Sophie Matsoukas has played the majority of time between the pipes for Union, starting all eight games thus far.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE DUTCHWOMEN
Dartmouth leads the all-time series against Union, 29-5-2.
Union swept last season's series with wins by scores of 2-1 and 3-0.
The Big Green have gone 4-4-2 against Union in their last 10 matchups, proving the recent competitiveness between the programs.
