SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Dartmouth women's hockey team opened a 4-1 lead early in the third period, but Union responded with three goals in the span of 5:16 to pull even, before winning it 53 seconds into overtime. Senior Celine Pietraszek scored the Big Green's third and fourth goals of the contest to lead the offense, but it wasn't enough as a wild third period featured seven goals between the two teams.

The Big Green now stand 1-4-0 on the season and 1-4-0 in ECAC Hockey. The Dutchwomen improve to 4-5-1 and 1-2-1.

Along with Pietraszek's two goals, which tied a career high, junior Jenna Donohue and sophomore Lauren Messier scored Dartmouth's others. Sophomore goaltender Maggie Emerson made 24 saves, across Union's Sophia Matsoukas, who posted 31.

After a scoreless first period, a turnover behind the goal led to senior Georgia Kraus finding Donohue in front, and she wouldn't be denied less than two minutes into the second period. The Big Green would take that 1-0 lead into the third.

Late in the second, a five-minute major led to more than four and a half minutes of a Dartmouth power play to start the third. The Big Green converted, scoring power play goals at the 2:52 and 4:05 marks, from Messier and Pietraszek, to take a 3-0 advantage.

Union got on the board at 5:23, also on a power play, but less than a minute later, Pietraszek fired a shot from inside the faceoff circle to beat Matsoukas for a 4-1 advantage at the 6:10 mark.

It took just 2:01 after that for Union to pull within 4-2, then the Dutchwomen scored twice more – at 12:46 (making them 3-for-3 on the power play for the game) and 13:27.

Union rode the momentum, outshooting Dartmouth 4-1 the rest of regulation. That set the stage for Riley Walsh to send the Dutchwomen home winners on their first shot of overtime.

Final shots were 35-29 in favor of Union. Dartmouth was 2-for-6 on the power play while the Dutchwomen converted all three of their attempts.

The Big Green return home to Thompson Arena next weekend as they host Cornell on Friday (6 p.m.) and Colgate on Saturday (3 p.m.) in ECAC Hockey action.
