CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Dartmouth men's track and field team opened the 2022-23 season at the HBCU and Ivy Challenge, hosted by Harvard at the Gordon Indoor Track.

Delaware State finished with 109.5 points, followed by Dartmouth (104.5), Harvard (102) and Howard (70).

Dartmouth took three of the top four spots in weight throw, led by
Jake Dalton's second-place finish with a personal best throw of 18.31m.
Ben Pable (17.47m) took third followed by
Michael Gabriel (16.86m) in fourth. The freshmen duo of
Max Klein and
Colton McMaster did well in shot put with Klein winning with a throw of 16.96m and McMaster throwing 15.21m to take third. Klein's throw is the sixth best mark in program history.

Sam Starrs took second in pole vault in his first collegiate meet with a jump of 4.40m.
Nils Wildberg finished in second in the long jump with a jump of 6.96m. In the same event,
Rahul Batlanki took sixth with a jump of 6.69m.

DJ Matusz and
Mason Childers finished first and second in the 600m run. Matusz crossed the finish line at 1:19.90 while Childers was right behind with a time of 1:20.45, narrowly beating out Riley McDermott of Harvard.

In the 1000m run,
Isaac Weber claimed first with a time of 2:30.91 while
Baker Pashea took third as finished in 2:34.25. In the final event of the day, the group of
Myles Epstein, Childers,
J'Voughnn Blake and
Liam Murray took second in the 1760m relay with a time of 3:20.61.
