Stacey Bridges moves into the role after six years as women's rugby assistant coach
HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) announced the hiring of Stacey Bridges as Director of Academic Support for DP2 to round out its staff in 2022.
"It is with great excitement that we welcome Stacey Bridges onto our DP2 team," said Ian Connole, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Peak Performance. "She embodies the holistic development and pursuit of comprehensive excellence that we pride ourselves in."
Bridges has been an integral part of the Dartmouth Athletics community for the last six years as assistant coach for the women's rugby team. In her tenure, she helped lead the team to five Ivy Rugby titles, two runner-up finishes at the USA Rugby 7s Collegiate Championships and three National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) Championship titles.
In addition to excelling as a coach, Bridges has also excelled on the field. She has been a member of the USA Women's National Team since 2009, participating in the 2010 and 2017 Women's Rugby World Cups. Bridges has been a stalwart in the national team program and is currently the second-most capped player in USA Women's Rugby history.
"Dartmouth student-athletes have an unprecedented history of academic success," said Connole. "We're the only institution to have been number one in the nation in both the Graduate Success Rate (GSR) and Academic Progress Rate (APR), and we've done it four times in the last decade.
"This is in no small part due to the efforts of everyone who supports the intellectual efforts of the Big Green. Bridges is uniquely positioned to step into this history of excellence and has the character, skills and work ethic to help bring out the best in the student-athletes she will support." Â
Bridges and Liz Johnson, Assistant Athletics Director for DP2/Varsity Sports, will collaborate to provide academic and personal advising to all 35 of the Big Green varsity teams. Bridges will also support the Team Faculty Advisors program, coordinate community service, foster campus connections and launch high-impact programming.
Over her career, Bridges has pursued excellence in academics personally and mentored numerous student-athletes in their own pursuits. As a first-generation student, she received her bachelor of science in kinesiology with a minor in sport psychology in 2009 from Texas A&M University, and a master's degree in kinesiology in 2015 from the University of Texas at El Paso. At Dartmouth, she currently is in the final stage of her second master's degree through the Master of Arts Liberal Studies program.
