THIS WEEKEND
Dartmouth women's basketball will play its final road game of the 2021-22 season on Saturday when it faces Penn at the Palestra.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green went 1-1 during their penultimate road weekend, being Cornell in overtime before falling to Columbia.
- After 12 ties and 15 lead changes, a reverse layup by Mekkena Boyd with 13 ticks remaining in overtime handed Dartmouth a 67-64 win over Cornell.
- Before the end of the game, Allie Harland added two free throws for insurance. She had a career-high 15 points after hitting a four 3-pointers and three shots from the charity stripe.
- Boyd was right behind with 13 points, having gone 6-12 in field goals. The Big Green had a 33-31 advantage in defensive rebounds.
- The following day, Dartmouth suffered a 66-42 loss to Columbia.
- Victoria Page led with 10 points, while Kaiyah Corona followed soon after with the first five points of her career.
- Boyd, Doreen Ariik and Carrington Washburn all had five rebounds.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
After picking up a win against Dartmouth at Leede Arena on Jan. 15, Penn had five losses in a row to Princeton, Yale, Columbia times two and Harvard. The Quakers had a mini resurgence, beating Cornell and Harvard, the latter in overtime before falling to the Bulldogs. Penn is on another two-winning streak after downing Brown and Cornell.
The Quakers are tied for fourth with Harvard with Ivy Tournament hopes still on the line. Their last game of the season isn't easy though, as they have to face their travel partner Princeton.
Penn is looking pretty good in the standings in free throw percentage (2nd - .715), blocked shots (2nd – 95), steals (4th – 195), defensive rebounds (2nd – 633) and 3-point field goals (3rd – 152). Individually, Jordan Obi and Kennedy Suttle both appear in the top 10 in almost every category.
LAST TIME AGAINST PENN
On Jan. 15, the Big Green had a 55-31 loss to the Quakers at home.
Rosie Jennings and Washburn led the way with seven points apiece, while
Emma Koch collected a career-high 10 caroms.
LEADING THE WAY
Mia Curtis remains team leader in points with 150 (7.1 points/game), while Boyd isn't far behind with 139 (6.0 points/game). Boyd leads in assists (39), steals (36) and has seen the most playing time of her teammates with 576 minutes (25.0 minutes/game).
Ariik has finally broken her way into the Ivy League top 10 in rebounds and is currently eighth with 57 offensive boards (2.5 rebounds/game). She is also 13th with 129 total rebounds (5.6 rebounds/game).
