CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to Harvard in a close one, 3-1, in ECAC Hockey and Ivy League action on Friday evening at the Bright-Landry Hockey Center.
Dartmouth falls to 3-15-3, 2-11-2 while Harvard improves to 12-7-2, 9-5-2.
Ian Pierce scored his fourth goal of the season and the team's 10
th power play goal.
Sean Chisholm assisted on the goal, giving him his team-leading eighth assist this season.
Clay Stevenson finished with 31 saves.
It was a back-and-forth opening period with neither team finding the back of the net. The Big Green went on the power play midway into the period.
Nick Unruh and
Tanner Palocsik had quality looks at goal but couldn't find the opener.
Harvard went onto the power play later in the first, but the Dartmouth penalty kill unit and Stevenson successfully fended off the attack.
The Crimson took the lead shortly into the second period. After the winning a faceoff in the Dartmouth defensive zone, Jack Bar fired a shot towards goal and was redirected by Jack Donato to give them the 1-0 lead. Harvard added to their lead not long after when they scored on the power play.
Midway through the second period, Harvard was called for two penalties, giving the Big Green a 5v3 power play. Dartmouth took advantage as they scored with two seconds remaining in the power play. After faking a pass to

Ian Pierce skated towards goal and slotted it home for his fourth goal of the season.
Sean Chisholm and
Steven Townley provided the assists.
The Big Green pulled Stevenson in the final few minutes of the third period as they searched for the equalizer. Dartmouth created multiple scoring opportunities but was unable to find the tying goal.
As the Big Green pushed for the tying goal, Harvard put home an empty net goal in the final seconds to seal the win.
