ATHENS, Ga. – The Dartmouth softball team (2-12) fell to #16 Georgia (23-4) and Mercer (7-18) on Saturday at the UGA Classic at Jack Turner Stadium. The Bulldogs took the first game by a score of 11-2 while the Bears won game two, 10-2.
Game 1: Dartmouth 2, #16 Georgia 11

Billie McFadyen, and
Leila Hennessy each had a hit for the Big Green. McFadyen had one run and one RBI while Kam scored once, and Hennessy picked up an RBI.
Jenna Brown and McFadyen each stole a base.
The 16
th-ranked Bulldogs were led by Jayda Kearney and Jaiden Fields, who both finished the game with a home run, a double, and 3 RBI. Fields had three runs while Kearney had two. Kylie Macy, Sydney Osada, and Riley Orcutt combined to allow just three hits while striking out 10.
Dartmouth took the lead in the top of the first inning after a double to right center from McFadyen sent Kam across the plate. Georgia responded in the next half inning with six runs of their own, including a two-run double from Kearney and then a two-run home run in the next at-bat from Fields.
The Bulldogs added three more in the second inning, including a solo shot from Kearney to center field. Dartmouth got on the board again in the fourth when Hessessy singled up the middle to send McFadyen home.
The Big Green left three on base, including two in scoring position.
Game 2: Dartmouth 2, Mercer 10

Leila Hennessy each had a hit for the Big Green. McFadyen and Hennessy had one RBI while both Panu and Brown had a run.
Megan Hagge struck out five in the loss.
The Bears were led by Rebeca Laudino, who finished with two hits, two RBI, and three runs. Annie Potter and Alyssa Woods also finished with two hits and one RBI. Hannah Pitts went the distance, striking out seven while allowing five hits.
Mercer jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after scoring two runs on a fielder's choice for Potter. The Bears extended the lead to 5-0 before the Big Green were able to get on the board. In the bottom of the fourth, Panu led off with a double to left field. In the next at-bat, McFadyen hit a single up the middle that sent Panu across the plate.
The Bears scored another five runs in the seventh, four of which came from RBI singles. Dartmouth grabbed one more run in the bottom of the seventh inning. After Brown singled to left field to start the inning, Hennessy smashed a double to left that sent Brown home.
Dartmouth finishes up at the UGA Classic tomorrow as they take on Illinois at 10:30 a.m. followed by another matchup with Mercer, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Live stats can be found on the team's schedule page.
