HANOVER, N.H. — The Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association announced its end-of-season awards and All-East teams, and Dartmouth was well represented with the men's and women's Nordic Rookies of the Year, two bib leaders and 12 skiers that earned All-East honors.
Freshman
Jasmine Drolet was the most-decorated Big Green skier, selected as the Women's Nordic Rookie of the Year. The Canadian native from British Columbia was the women's classic leader having won all three races she entered, and she earned a spot on the All-East First Team.
Dartmouth's other EISA Rookie of the Year was freshman
Luke Allan, who hails from Ottawa, Ontario. He finished among the top 10 in eight of the nine races he entered, winning the 10K free and placing second in the 10K classic at the Dartmouth Carnival. Allan joined Drolet on the All-East First Team.
Senior
Molly Gellert was the other bib leader, sitting atop the rankings for the women's freestyle. In the final two freestyle races of the season, the native of Anchorage, Alaska, crossed the finish line first to move to the top of the freestyle rankings, and she, too, found her way onto the All-East First Team.
Four other cross country skiers made the All-East Second Team: freshman
Wally Magill (Steamboat Springs, Colo.), senior
Rena Schwartz (Middlesex, Vt.), sophomore
Garvee Tobin (Anchorage, Alaska) and senior
Callie Young (Jay, Vt.)
A total of five Big Green alpine skiers made one of the two All-East Teams, with freshman
Oliver Morgan (Hanover, N.H.), fifth-year senior
Hannah Utter (Waitsfield, Vt.) and junior
Gwen Wattenmaker (Olympic Valley, Calif.) grabbing spots on the first team. Senior
Ellie Curtis (Waitsfield, Vt.) and sophomore
Olivia Holm (Old Greenwich, Conn.) garnered second-team status.
As announced yesterday, Dartmouth will send 12 skiers to the NCAA Championship next week, nine of whom earned All-East honors: Allan, Curtis, Gellert, Magill, Morgan, Schwartz, Tobin, Utter and Wattenmaker. Joining that group in Utah will be sophomore
Olof Hedelin (Saltsjobaden, Sweden) and fifth-year senior
Kalle Wagner (Fresno, Calif.) in men's alpine along with junior
Cameron Wolfe (Landgrove, Vt.) in men's Nordic. Of the 12 qualifiers, only Wolfe and Gellert have experience competing at the NCAAs.
The NCAA Championship, webcast live on NCAA.com, will begin on March 9 with the giant slalom at the Park City Mountain Resort. The cross country races will take place at Soldier Hollow Nordic Center on March 10 and 12 with the slalom sandwiched between the two.
