HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth sailing competed at four regattas over the weekend. The Big Green sailed in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Boston.
Connecticut Valley Dinghy Championship Trophy at Coast Guard
Unsteady winds at 3-13 knots made for tricky sailing. Dartmouth placed 17th place with 410 points, finishing ahead of Bates, Olin and Texas A&M. The Green finished as high as sixth throughout the day.
Jan T. Friis Team Race at Roger Williams
After a slow start with no wind, it filled in in the afternoon, maxing out at around 15 knots. The team was able to finish two round robins and move on to the final four with three very close races. Dartmouth ended up in third place out of nine teams, going 12-7 throughout the two days.
Boston University Team Race at BU
Conditions were light on Saturday, ranging from 0-8 knots, and were a more reliable 8-13 on Sunday. The Green finished four round robins, placing third out of eight teams with a record of 11-9.
Joseph R. Duplin Trophy at Tufts
The event got off to a whimpering start for lack of good wind. After the wind turned East 15 races in, the course was reset and two more races were started but abandoned as the wind turned Northeast and died to less than one knot. Sunday was much better, with winds going to the West 10-20. Dartmouth placed third out of eight teams, making it to the final four after one round robin.
