TROY, N.Y. — The Dartmouth men's hockey team defeated RPI, 3-2, in Game 1 of the ECAC Hockey first-round series on Friday evening at the Houston Field House.

Dartmouth improves to 7-20-3 while RPI drops to 15-21-3.

Sean Chisholm led the Big Green with his first three-point game, scoring the first goal and assisting on the other two.
Mark Gallant scored his team-leading 11
th goal of the season while
Jeff Losurdo scored his sixth.

Gallant added an assist to make it a multi-point game while
Tanner Palocsik,
Nick Unruh, and
Ian Pierce each had an assist as well.

Clay Stevenson finished with 36 saves, including 14 in the second period. The Big Green finished with 17 blocks.

Both teams got off to a quick start, each scoring inside the opening 70 seconds of the game. The Big Green took the lead just 53 seconds in.
Mark Gallant played the puck out to
Ian Pierce, who made a perfect pass to
Sean Chisholm to send him 1v1 with RPI goaltender Jack Watson. Chisholm made no mistake and put it through the five-hole for the 1-0 lead.

The Engineers responded quickly, tying things up only 15 seconds later. A redirected shot by Justin Addamo into traffic found its way into the back of the net to tie it 1-1.

Dartmouth took back the lead with four minutes remaining in the first period. Chisholm poked it away from the RPI attacker along the boards.
Tanner Palocsik picked up the loose puck and made a long pass out to Gallant. Gallant tipped it around the Engineers' defenseman and calmly buried his shot past Watson for his 11
th goal of the season.

RPI answered almost immediately, tying the game at 2-2 28 seconds later. Addamo received a long outlet pass and forced his way through to goal and was able to sneak one past
Clay Stevenson for his second of the game.

Jeff Losurdo put the Big Green back in the lead with his sixth goal of the season with three minutes left to go in the second period. After shots from
Nick Unruh and Chisholm were saved, Losurdo followed up on the loose puck, wrapped it around the net and forced it into the net.

RPI pulled Watson with two minutes remaining as they looked for the equalizer, but the Big Green defense held strong to take the win.
