HANOVER, N.H. – No. 9 Dartmouth lightweight rowing will compete in two races in New Jersey on Saturday.
Â
In the morning, the Big Green will face No. 4 Princeton and Delaware in the Diamond Challenge and will compete against No. 7 Columbia for the Subin Bowl later that day.
Dartmouth and Columbia established their lightweight crew rivalry in 1984 at the freshman level. In 1987, the Subin Cup was established in honor of D. William Subin, who graduated from Dartmouth in 1963 and earned a degree from Columbia Law in 1966. Subin coxed the Big Green heavyweight varsity and went on to coach the Lions' lightweights while studying law.
Â
Dartmouth rowed at the Head of the Charles (Oct. 23-24), Head of the Fish (Oct. 30) and the Gardner Cup (Nov. 6) in the fall. Since the latter is an intersquad scrimmage, the last time Dartmouth competed was at the end of October in Saratoga, New York.
Â
The team did well at the Head of the Fish, winning four races: the Collegiate Single, Double, Quad and 8+.
Â
On Saturday, April 16, Dartmouth will compete for the Biglin Bowl against Harvard and MIT.
