NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Dartmouth sailing team competed at the first day of the College Sailing Open Western Semifinal down in New Orleans, La., hosted by Tulane.
The Big Green currently sit second with 70 points, just two points behind Roger Williams. Dartmouth accumulated 25 points in A division and 45 points in the B division. Each division had six races on Thursday.
"We're happy with the performance from the team today," said head coach
Justin Assad. "Our goal for the day was to get the lay of the land and get a feel for the racecourse and racing area."
Competing in the A division for the Big Green were
Boyd Bragg,
Eloise Burn and
Drew Clutterbuck. Bragg was the skipper for all six races while Burn took part in races 1-4 and Clutterbuck stepped in for the final two.
In the B division, Dartmouth sent out
Maddie Hawkins,
Yumi Yoshiyasu,
Aisling Sullivan and
Carlota Hopkins Guerra. Hawkins served as the skipper for all six races. Yoshiyasu (1,2), Sullivan (3,4), and Hopkins Guerra (5,6) each took part in two races.
Dartmouth is in prime position to qualify for the finals. Friday will conclude the semifinals while the finals will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
