TOWSON, Md. – Josie Harper Head Coach of Women's Lacrosse
Alex Frank helped guide team USA to the gold medal in the World Lacrosse Women's Championship on Saturday.
The Americans wrapped up an 8-0 tournament with an 11-8 victory over Canada in the gold medal match on Saturday.
An assistant coach with the national team, Frank spoke highly of her time with the team over the last five years leading up to this special moment. "It's an incredible honor to have the opportunity to coach the best in the world," said Frank. "It's something that every coach would dream of being able to represent their country."
"It was a surreal moment to be at the world cup and to see how the game as grown.
Michelle Yu '21 represented Hong Kong and
Amy Shohet '23 participated with Israel; seeing their experiences and how much fun it is, is what the sport is all about."
The Americans became the first host country to ever capture the gold medal and extended their winning streak to 30 games and four gold medals.
"This U.S. team really showcased what women's lacrosse can do, being on ESPN and all the different versions (ESPNU, ESPN+, ESPN2, etc.) gave people an opportunity to see it," said Frank. "It's a testament to what head coach Jenny Levy and the players who committed the last five years to being the best and wanting to grow the game. I feel very fortunate to be a part of it."
