HANOVER, N.H. — Head women's rugby coach Katie Dowty has announced the hiring of Gianna Solomon as an assistant coach for the 2022 season.
"We couldn't be more excited to have Gianna joining us," Dowty said. "She brings a wealth of experience in coaching, strength and conditioning, and media management."
Solomon arrives at Dartmouth following her role as a graduate assistant in strength and conditioning at Wagner College, where she worked with women's basketball and several Olympic sports while serving as the head of education for nutrition, hydration and sleep. "I'm excited to experience high-level rugby from a new perspective and Dartmouth will be the perfect place to do so," said Solomon.
A former collegiate rugby player, Solomon earned All-America accolades and won a pair of national championships at Penn State. She went on to play professionally in the Women's Premier League. Solomon also served as the head rugby coach at Greenwich Area School District and gained additional coaching experience as an assistant coach for Northeast Rugby Academy and The Rugby Advantage.
"Having worked with Gianna in the USA Rugby Age Grade programs, I know first-hand that the work ethic and energy she brings will be a perfect addition to our program here at Dartmouth," Dowty added.
Solomon graduated from Penn State in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and received a master's in media management at Wagner in 2022.
