HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's soccer team takes the pitch at Burnham Field for a Tuesday night match against the UMass Minutemen. The Big Green look to bounce back after suffering the first loss of their season on Saturday at home.
Dartmouth fell to the LIU Sharks on Saturday in the team's home-opener. The Big Green outshot the Sharks 19-10 and put nine shots on goal but were unable to find the back of the net. A pair of goals from the Sharks in the 29th and 86th minutes sealed the match for the visitors.
UMass heads to Hanover with an undefeated record of 4-0-1. The Minutemen have won their last four games, including wins over Boston University, Sacred Heart, Boston College at home and a road victory over Central Connecticut State on the road. UMass ranks second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in total goals with 14 through its first five matches.
The Big Green look to increase their advantage in the all-time series against the Minutemen on Tuesday night. Dartmouth holds a record of 27-7-4 against UMass in a series that dates to 1933. UMass won the last meeting between the programs by a score of 2-1 on September 15, 2021 in Amherst, Massachusetts.
BATTLE-TESTED DEFENSE
The Big Green have allowed just .667 goals per game through three matches in 2022. This ranks second in the Ivy League, just behind Cornell, for the lowest goals against average in the conference.

Costi Christodoulou has been given starting duties in every match so far for the Big Green.
The South Africa native leads the Ivy League in save percentage (.857) and saves per game (4.00) and has turned away 12 of 14 shots on goal through three matches.
LAST TIME AGAINST UMASS
Dartmouth and UMass faced off last season in Amherst, Massachusetts on September 15, 2021.
Ben Jenkins scored the first goal of the match in the first half, and the Big Green took a 1-0 lead into the half.
UMass found the equalizer in the 64th minute of the contest and an 85th minute goal sealed the comeback victory for the Minutemen. Dartmouth outshot UMass 13-12 and the teams combined for five yellow cards throughout the game.
SCOUTING UMASS
UMass is led by head coach Fran O'Leary, a man very familiar with Hanover. O'Leary coached the Big Green from 1994-2000, finishing his tenure with Dartmouth with a record of 56-48-14 and two NCAA Tournament berths. He is in his 32nd season as a collegiate head coach.
The Minutemen come to Hanover with a 4-0-1 record, which includes wins over in-state foes, Boston College and Boston University. UMass averages 2.80 goals per game and rank second in the Atlantic 10 Conference with 14 goals.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE MINUTEMEN
The Big Green and Minutemen have battled 35 times prior to Tuesday's tilt. Dartmouth holds a 5-4-1 record in the last ten matchups between the teams, but UMass claimed a victory in the most recent match, a 2-1 contest last season in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Bo Oshoniyi is 2-1 against UMass during his tenure as Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer. He coached Dartmouth to a pair of 1-0 victories over the Minutemen in 2018 and 2019.
