PHILADELPHIA — The Dartmouth men's tennis team opened its fall slate Friday at the Penn Invitational. The Big Green swept doubles action and won five singles matches in an encouraging Day 1 of the three-day event.
All three freshmen won singles matches in their collegiate debuts as
Waleed Qadir defeated his opponent from Temple,
Henry Ren bested his counterpart from Princeton in two closely contested sets and
Miles Groom battled his Drexel challenger to a two-set victory.
Daniel Webb and
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez picked up the additional singles triumphs, defeating opponents from Drexel and Princeton.
Squaring off against the likes of Temple, Drexel and Princeton, the Big Green won all four doubles matches, each by a score of 8-6.
Dartmouth is back in action Saturday for the second day of the Penn Invitational.
