HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's tennis team opened its 2023 spring season with a pair of victories over four-time defending Patriot League champion Navy on Saturday at the Boss Tennis Center. The Big Green won 5-2 in the morning's action before sweeping the second match.
Â
"In a lot of ways, we couldn't have asked for a better start to the season," said
Xander Centenari, the John Kenfield and Chuck Kinyon Head Coach. "We faced adversity early, losing the doubles point, but bounced back to take all six first sets in singles. We made some adjustments in doubles and played a much better doubles point in our second match."
Â
The first win of the day marked Dartmouth's ninth consecutive season-opening victory. The Big Green have seen a 2-0 start in five straight seasons.
Â
"We set the tone for the way we want to play from an energy standpoint," Centenari added. "We're looking forward to a great test on Monday in our scrimmage against Harvard."
